Security & Safety |
| |
We are extremely security conscious at RBPS. All gates to the school are locked at 08:10. Under no circumstances may boys leave the school grounds during the school day, unless they have been collected from the Receptionist’s office, by their parent (or designated adult) for such things as a doctor’s appointment etc.
All parents visiting the school are also to report to the receptionist in the front office. Parents may not visit teachers in their classrooms. Should you need to see a teacher, please make an appointment through the school secretary or via the homework book.
Evacuation procedures are practised on a regular basis. Talks on “Stranger Danger” are also given at the beginning of the year and we have a number of “Safe Houses” in the vicinity of the school for boys to go to should they feel unsafe in the afternoon. From these homes, the boys will be allowed to phone their parents. These houses are identified by a sign which has a yellow house with a smiley face on it.
Boys waiting to be collected in the afternoon are to wait in the big boys’ playground. The security officer patrols this area in the afternoon until ± 17:30. |

| RBPS has the following strategies in place to ensure school safety: |
| |
- There are extensive security cameras around the school grounds and inside the school buildings and certain classrooms.
-
There are 4 teachers on duty in the playground during each break.
- All staff regularly attend first aid courses.
- One of our staff members is a qualified paramedic.
- An emergency evacuation practice is conducted each term.
- The fire extinguishers are serviced regularly by a reputable company.
- RBPS has an emergency plan which covers a number of scenarios which has been approve by Cape Town Disaster Management.
