| Cricket |
Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School has a proud history of producing great cricket players. This is due to the facilities and opportunities provided for our future stars. We provide coaching from U9 to U13 age groups. There are A, B, C and D teams in each group.
The school makes use of the nets at the Gary Kirsten Oval and Lilacs Lawn for their practices. Limited over games are played during the week while the A teams play a time restricted game on Saturdays.
Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory takes part in an annual day/night competition and has also had the opportunity to play at the Newlands Sahara Park.
The school also provides the opportunity of the boys going on cricket tours which visit schools all over South Africa. Rondebosch often plays host to touring sides from around the country and the world. |

| Mini Cricket |
|
Mini Cricket is played by boys in the U9 age group. Each coach is assigned a group of approximately 18 boys, who are grouped according to their batting and bowling skills. RBPS usually fields six Mini Cricket Teams who participate in the KFC Mini Cricket League. RBPS competes against all the schools in our area and this includes the traditional boys schools. These matches are played according to the KFC Mini Cricket Rules and the emphasis is on fun and participation. |

| Swimming |
Swimming is a very popular and competitive sport at Rondebosch. Training takes place every day of the week from 15:00 – 19:00. Here dedicated and enthusiastic coaches cater for all A group and B group swimmers from U7 - U13.
Thursday afternoons are set aside for Relay Galas between the local boys’ schools. These are well supported and eagerly anticipated by the boys.
On our swimming calendar one of the most prestigious Galas of the season is held in Term 1, namely the Pentangular Gala. Here Rondebosch, Wynberg, SACS, WPPS and Bishops compete against each other to see who reigns as Champion in the swimming pool.
We are also very privileged to be invited to Paarl every year to participate in a night gala against the Paarl Schools. At this Gala the boys compete as individuals and receive medals and trophies.
Rondebosch is also proud of their annual Championship Gala where the top 6 boys in each age group in each stroke compete against each other at the end of the season to find the champion in each age group.

| Tennis |
Boys from Grades 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 may play Tennis at Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School. The players practice once a week and have a match on either Thursday (U11) or Friday (U12/ U13) afternoons. Our players are trained by two external professional coaches.
Our aim as a tennis group is to develop each player into the best tennis player he can be. They are encouraged to participate in matches once a week and are challenged to have a good attitude, sportsmanship, be competitive but mainly to have fun.
We keep the boys motivated and the sport alive by allowing them to challenge each other for position twice a term, within a set of rules to guide them. This works strictly on a ladder system, which is based on the points acquired in the challenge match.
The school makes use of the tennis courts in Laidlaw Road. We play tennis matches at our Laidlaw courts and also the WPCC courts.
One of the highlights of the year is that the U13A and U13B tennis teams participate in a Tennis festival at the end of their season. Other highlights include matches against touring teams; inter house matches and championship challenges. |
| |
| Water Polo |
Boys in Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 may play waterpolo. Boys practise twice a week and matches take place on a Friday afternoon. We aim to develop individual skill levels, fitness and strength in the water, and a basic understanding of team dynamics.
The U13 team participates in the Grey Junior Annual Tournament held in Port Elizabeth. Other competitions include the Slabber Cup, (local U13 teams) which takes place in the first term and the SACS Invitational Tournament, which takes place in the fourth term.
