Sport

The school is renowned for its sporting prowess. Not only top players are considered - every boy is encouraged to participate in at least one sport. RBHS has long enjoyed a tradition of excellence on the sports field and participation in sport is encouraged as being an essential part of a boy’s contribution to his School.

Excellent sporting facilities include:

  • several fields
  • five all-weather tennis courts
  •  two swimming and water-polo pools
  •  two squash courts
  •  indoor sports centre for basketball etc.

We are proud to share some of our sporting facilities with the members of the community.

There are 5 Houses at RBHS, ANDREWS, FLETCHER, MARCHAND, CANIGOU and RAMAGE.

There are 14 sports to choose from at RBHS as well as some sports which are clubs at the school. Of these sports there are 7 which have either a professional co-ordinator and/or the first team is coached by a professional coach.

These professional coaches are there to ensure the success of the first teams and to provide an opportunity for the level of teacher coaches to be improved. This has resulted in the top teams getting expert coaching and quality coaching taking place at most levels. In this process, one thing is clear; teacher input is invaluable.

The school believes that sport helps to establish a wonderful rapport between staff and pupils. Efficiently coached and organized, sport promotes friendships, group integration, self-confidence and assists in the development of personal maturity and inter-personal skills.  Not only are our top players considered - every boy is encouraged to participate and enjoy his chosen activity.

The school sports policy encourages all boys to participate in at least one sport and every boy is required to play in a team sport.

The Sports scholarship fund has grown resulting in more boys being offered partial scholarships.
