Union Objectives |
| |
| The Union was founded in 1909 with two main objectives: |
- To promote fellowship and interaction amongst Old Boys and
- To support the Rondebosch Boys’ Schools.
Fellowship and interaction are promoted through regular communication through the Enews and newsletter to keep members well informed of school and Old Boy activities; social and sporting gatherings; class reunions and dinners.
The benefits which flow from these activities range from maintaining friendships formed at school for life, to business partnerships and general business networking.
Support for both the Prep and High Schools is given by attending academic, cultural and sports events and showing a real interest in our teachers and their achievements through schoolboys who excel.

In the current environment where State financial support for capital improvements and extensions is negligible, the Union has a vital support role to play in fundraising projects. The Old Boys’ Union’s record in this regard is outstanding, but needs to be maintained and improved upon as we are endeavouring to do with our 2009 Centenary appeal. Our success in this regard means our Schools will remain centres of educational excellence and will continue to produce outstanding leaders across the whole spectrum of business, cultural, sport and humanitarian activities.
Old Boys also make contributions to Rondebosch by serving on various committees and by helping the Schools in a variety of other ways such as assisting with sports coaching and refereeing and as guest speakers at school ceremonies. |
