What a wonderful place the boys have to do their art! The ‘Lilacs’, historical and homely, has its own distinctive atmosphere. All the boys attend art classes in this special and unique old building – with its wooden floors, sash windows, brass door knobs and pressed ceilings – a perfect environment for inspiring creativity!
A well-stocked storeroom ensures that the boys have the opportunity to experience and experiment with a variety of media in drawing, painting and printing activities. The art department is indeed fortunate to have its own kiln, so boys are able to work with the tactile medium of clay as well!
Successful art lessons don’t just happen – like any other learning area, careful planning, organization and flexibility are needed to ensure that the process is experienced and objectives are met.
In addition to the curriculum art classes, a junior and a senior extra-mural art class caters for the talented or very enthusiastic learner, providing further opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge in a creative environment.
